Were you blessed Easter Sunday? It was a joy to be together even if we were socially separated and distanced from each other. If I had one complaint that there were no donuts! I guess I am a lightweight.
There were so many blessings this Easter Sunday 2020! God was working in our hearts and minds, which was not a surprise. This is one of the reasons that I love God so much. He is not the God of “oops.” He did not look down from heaven upon His Son hanging on the cross and say, “Oops! I’ve gotta work this out!”
Moses didn’t witness God give the Ten Commandments then say, “Number eleven…oops! Ten is good.” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn’t crisp up in the fiery furnace as God said, “Oops…sorry about that!” God is not the God of “oops.”
Theologically, possessing all knowledge and being all-knowing is called omniscience. Nothing happens that is beyond Him or His understanding. Even COVID-19 is not an oops moment. To tell the truth, the virus caught humans off guard. It is a silent killer; a new plague that has required us to do some things that we have never done before. Social distancing is a kind term for isolation from each other.
We are not a people designed to stand apart from each other. Interestingly, while we are standing apart from each other, we can never stand apart from God! He has His reasons for allowing this time in our lives. This is not an oops moment for Him although some may believe that to be the case.
So, what do we do at this moment? If I am distant from you, that does not automatically mean that I am spending more time with Him. It is up to me to decide what to do with this time. I can sit quietly and just let time slip away. God will allow this to happen. Alternatively, I can decide to do what I would do with any great friend: talk to Him, listen to Him, and read His book.
Memorize his words and you will place in your heart a special moment that will last for the rest of your time on this earth. He is here; he is ready for you to talk to, to love on, and to rest in His hands.
When this is all over, I want the world to see the fingerprints of God all over me! If we aren’t proactive about spending time with God, we are reducing this awesome time to an oops moment. You decide. And remember that you are loved!
See you soon.
